Creative Scholars Department - William Carey University

William Carey Creative Writedown

On a Saturday in January, the Creativity Write-Down provides a welcome day of high paced fun with learning. Bright, talented students from second grade to high school join together with peers in small groups organized around projects. The winter all-day workshop features theme-based writing experience, artistic expression, problem solving, presentational skills, and technology. The workshop engages young participants in their own decision paths to learning, with teachers providing guidance and support rather than explicit instruction. Focus modules draw from politics, economics, sociology, the arts, professions, and the environment.

The teaching staff for winter workshops values the opportunity to work very closely with children and teens. Because the workshop groups are limited in size and multiple explorations available to participants, each individual gets maximum opportunity to develop ideas and projects. Participants love this program.
